A set of introductory lectures introduces the students to the Art Nouveau architecture in Brussels with the oeuvre of architects as Victor Horta and contemporary artists in Paris. Some basic texts of this interbellum period are also discussed and site visits form a substantial part of the course. In a second phase we focus on the reception of modernist architecture in the post-war period, and its regional adaptation in the work of Renaat Braem, among others.
