Content |
|
The course introduces students to the Belgian Law system and this from a comparative perspective. Topics adressed are
- aspects of Belgian constitutional and administrative law;
- aspects of Belgian civil law;
- aspects of Belgian family law;
- aspects of Belgian penal law;
- aspects of Belgian labour and social security law;
- aspects of Belgian commercial, trade and company law;
- aspects of Belgian tax law, seen from an international and European perspective.
The course may include a visit to the Brussels Court of Appeal or another Belgian court.
Students are obliged to undertake legal research, reported in a paper, in which they compare an aspect of Belgian law with their home law system. |

Students enrolled in the course are assessed by way of grades given to an individually written paper in which they compare an aspect of Belgian law with the law on the subject in their home state. |
